Now that I’m looking into it, it’s not clear if he meant reunification with the UK or if he meant Northern Ireland should reunify with Ireland. Historically, unionism meant reunifying with the UK and republicanism or Irish nationalism means Northern Ireland joining the Republic of Ireland.

Either way, I generally am more sympathetic to the republicans but he probably shouldn’t say anything out of maintaining our relationship with both countries.
