Sitting in a plane. When I'm sitting in the plane on the runway, I get really nervous, but once we start to lift off I stop being nervous. I know it makes no sense because being in a plane is only really dangerous after it takes off, but for some backwards reason, I'm really nervous until that happens.

I suppose so, but if mechanical failure on the runway were to occur, the worst case scenario is that the plane drops to the ground from say 15 feet up. If mechanical failure were to occur in the air, the plane would drop from 25,000 feet up, which is significantly more dangerous. Nevertheless, I don't have any fear of that in the slightest.
