I’m also not sure North Korea looks like the 1940s. I always think they look like they’re stuck in the 1980s aesthetically. Then again I wasn’t alive in the 1980s.

They’re 80s communist couture. The only branding is regime and great leader branding. It’s a constant drumbeat of nonsense and authorized expression to hide failure. The Soviets had beautiful awards for everything and much of it was for mediocre achievement. You can buy boxes of this stuff and it’s all ceremony to mask reality. It doesn’t trick people and they conform out of fear.
