Topic: Irish history be like

Anonymous A started this discussion 25 minutes ago #137,341

- The British killed a million Irish people through starvation policy

- The IRA killed 1,700 people over a 30 year period

"The IRA is a terrorist organization and I have no idea why they did that."

It’s like, did they kill civilians? Yes. But at the same time it’s like, when you look at it proportionally and you compare the British Empire to the IRA it’s like, I mean yeah they probably were terrorists but it’s sort of like… not really that bad when you compare it with the British, actually.

I mean, how many people die in Ukraine in a week? How many people has Trump killed in Iran? Probably more than the IRA killed.

I mean it’s basically like half a 9/11, spread out over a period ten years longer than the war on terror. It’s not that bad.

It’s also ironic the British stereotyped the Irish as being violent and fighting all the time when if you actually look up a list of all the wars Ireland ever fought in, it’s actually like… not that many wars.

I mean, this list right here, this one I’m talking about:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_the_Republic_of_Ireland

This list is a joke. They’re practically the most peaceful nation on Earth.

Half of them were literally UN peacekeeping missions lol

The Vatican has never had a war. Thanks.

True. Amazing technicality, but they actually haven’t. The Catholic Church? No, but the Vatican specifically? Never fought a war.

You know they actually forgot how many crusades there were. Some historians think there were 8 crusades some think there were 9. They lost count.

The modern geopolitical situation where European nations defend Israel is a little ironic considering historically they were going over in hoards to the Middle East because they wanted to die killing Jews and Muslims so they could skip purgatory and go straight to heaven for dying as martyrs of Christianity. It’s funny how things change like that. Now Christians pretend that never happened and only Muslims do that shit. Lol
