I think part of the reason is because since traditionally men were in roles of power, people think of women as weak or innocent or as not being active agents in society the way men are. It also skews the perception towards women being victims of sexism by men, which is the case a lot of the times, but it leads to people overlooking how sexism also hurts men. Like when people say "women and children" instead of civilians, when women can be combatants and some women do participate in war crimes…

I also just think it’s ridiculous when people say women can’t fight or be in the military because they’re weaker and they’re just going to be victims and then you can see videos and it’s like… eh… I don’t know if that’s what’s happening.

Reminds me of a time when a woman was complaining about how she couldn't wear something plain to work without comments, talking about how hard women have it. I asked who made those comments, because I'd never heard men say it to her. She admitted it only came from women. "So it's women deciding it has to be like this? Women should just decide not to do that" and she flipped and said "because we live in a patriarchy!"
Like... patriarchy means male rule. If you admit men aren't doing it, how is that their fault? She couldn't answer, got mad, and stopped the conversation there. A week later I heard her make the same exact complaint again.
Completely devoid of sense.
