I don't like how hivemind reddit has become. It's mostly the mods but also just the culture there has shifted a lot from the early days. It's really strange to see which is why I stopped commenting or posting years ago. I only really kept going on reddit to read comments and gauge how people feel about stuff but if they're forcing accounts and what not I just don't care anymore

well straightdope forum is readable, but I just don't enjoy the layout of the threads since they changed to Discourse software which doesn't fit with desktop monitor use so good, you immediately have to scroll as you start reading the way they put it

Their community standards are oppressive. I don’t care about idiots being chided for harassment (I hate -, fuck all women, threats, PI). However, an unpopular opinion is grounds for redaction or bans. Pointing to a Wuhan lab leak, saying that gay male practices pose a public health issue, or criticizing Islam’s treatment of women leads to bans.

I once relentlessly badgered one in the early days and I think it was an actual human on staff - I said my my, what a curious redditor! You have so many questions! They replied back finally that they "are just a naturally curious person :)"... the entire account was posts asking inane questions like "do you like dogs?" all over reddit.
