try plogue chipsounds. Sounds the same, but it's a $99 VST plugin and you get a TON of different chips to choose from.

A good hardware solution is SammichSid which is a Midibox SID kit you can buy.

I wanted a sidstation for the longest time but the price isn't worth it.

the way you do that is you use more than one sid chip.

and keep in mind each sid has 3 voices, or three oscillators already, so you can already do simple chords with just one chip.

at ucapps.de, you can see the newest state of the art midibox sids use 6 sid chips each, for a massive polyphonic sound.
