Have you ever googled how many Koreans were living in Hiroshima? It’s one thing to say that the Japanese civilians deserved to die for the actions of their government which is already kinda bullshit, but they basically burned thousands of ethnic Koreans alive.

Also, the idea we would have had to invade Japan to get Japan to surrender is stupid at face value. Japan is an island, they had no navy, we sank their entire navy. Japan can’t support its own population because it doesn’t have enough land to grow its own food and they have basically no natural oil reserves. We could have literally just sat there and done nothing and a year later they’d be on their knees begging us to let them surrender.

Or even the idea that it had anything to do with reducing deaths is also stupid. Take the Nigerian civil war for example, there are estimates that between 500,000 and 3 million Biafrans died from starvation as a result of Nigeria’s naval blockade. That’s more people than died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Question: have you ever heard about the Nigerian civil war? Probably not. If we let Japanese people starve, nobody would ever ask any questions about it. We should have just done that instead. The atomic bombing was stupid from an image perspective. If any other country did it everyone would say it was a war crime because it obviously was.

It would also be smarter from the perspective of we wouldn’t have to spend money rebuilding anything if we just blockaded Japan and waited from them to surrender due to starvation rather than burn everything down. It’s also stupid from that perspective. We gave billions of dollars to Japan when they were the aggressors but people have the audacity to say giving reparations to black people is absurd. Also, just being real here, it was the United States in the 1940s. We had already firebombed Japanese cities. We could easily fly over Japan and drop bombs and burn down entire cities without sending in ground troops and we were fine with doing that. Do you honestly believe that if we had the ability to burn Japanese people alive without losing American lives, and we were actively fine with doing it, that preventing deaths was even a consideration? You can’t actually seriously believe that.
