I think God was trolling when he designed this.

They’re not touching, so it ensures different cultures develop on each side. But it’s almost touching to encourage armies to cross it.

It is really a God-tier troll. Many wars were waged by crossing this strait and I’m sure there will be many more.

Spain proved they can't protect their own borders ar Ceuta.

It's time to say it: a country full of mezicans and africans can't be apart of the EU.

So… basically, no country in Europe can be a part of the EU.

That's a weird conclusion.

So far France and Italy have singled Spain out and suspended Schengen agreements.

Trufax: The Strait of Gibraltar used to be a landmass, with ocean on one side and a below sealevel desert on the mediterainan sea side. and ocean waves eventually cut a channel threw it.

It seems like the obvious solution for Spain would be to not hold territory in Africa.

It's been Spanish for 600 years.

How long has your state been part of the United States?

Spain was an Islamic country for 800 years before it became Catholic.

I don’t get why people say "oh x colony was controlled by Europeans for y hundred years." In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter because nobody lives that long. Especially when you’re talking about Africa in particular. How long have Africans lived in Africa? Since we split off from Chimpanzees 7 million years ago. Okay so why does it matter? I’ve heard people say the same about the Dutch in South Africa, it’s like who cares?

I mean sure, Europeans barged into Africa and then propped up a bunch of fake white supremacist countries like Rhodesia to oppress and profit off the local population, but that was like a blip in history. Ultimately the difference between North America and Africa is in Africa the genocide was unsuccessful. Native Americans are 1% of the population here in America, and I’ll always support their right to their land, but at the end of the day 1% of people aren’t going to control the entire thing logistically even if it’s not fair from a historical sense. But in Africa, it doesn’t have to be that way.

And I’m not even saying Spain shouldn’t control the city I don’t care that much, but it’s not like holding onto it is the most important thing in the world.

Didn't a terrorist group attacked a watchpoint that was based in Gibraltar not too long ago?
