Police in Germany say Abdul Ballout, the suspect in a deadly attack near Berlin's Pride festival, was shot and killed by officers Sunday after a nearly 24-hour manhunt.
Authorities said Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese roots, was found in Berlin's Spandau district around 6 p.m. local time. According to Berlin police, he allegedly ran toward officers with a sharp instrument and was fatally shot at the scene.
Officials believe Ballout drove a van into people near the festival's closing celebrations Saturday night before allegedly attacking others with a machete in what Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described as an Islamic extremist terror attack.

Terrorism is tragic. It’s also going to happen again. It always does. People will always use tragedies to push political narratives. The truth is, this is what you’ve actually got to be afraid of. This is what’s gonna kill ya.

Are you afraid of death?
- don’t drink
- don’t smoke
- don’t eat fast food
- exercise
This will reduce your risk of cancer and heart disease which are the two leading causes of death and these two things should be what keeps you up at night. Not terrorists or sharks or plane accidents or whatever.

You are correct. We like to focus on anomalies and, say, cross the street during rush hour while staring at our phones.
