The story is I think, that someone from Xbox saw Bethesda wasn't doing anything with fallout, so just cleared the schedule of obsidian and handed them the next fallout game development

You what? China hasn't banned video games, Google it. They tried to restrict minors playing games excessively, that might be what you're thinking of, but games are still massive over there, lots of people there play games.
We're even starting to see international smash-hit video games from Chinese developers. Off the top of my head, Genshin Impact is massive, Black Myth: Wukong is a Chinese Souls-like that was very successful and well-regarded.

Nah, Obsidian hasnt produced anything good since their last fallout game, kombine this with the recent layoffs and their cheese is officially smoked.

computer role playing games, which is a different genre entirely from all the shitty fallouts which are action role playing games(minus fallout67, which is a MMO), despite all of them being stored and operated solely on computers.

> I haven't enjoyed any Fallout games since the 90s, but I still follow the series closely just so I can be angry about it
I don't get anti-fans tbh... But this seems to be how a lot of people engage with media. There seem to be a large number of Fallout anti-fans who are like this.
Anyway I like ALL of the Fallout games! Aside from 76. Not an MMO guy. Also I found Tactics a bit boring, come to think of it.

What? No, they're really not. Fallout 4, massive hit, made lots of money. Fallout 76 had a painful launch but over time found success and likely turned a respectable profit. Starfield, of course, was a misstep but at least broke even but might not've got the numbers it's pedigree would suggest. And the Oblivion Remaster (which, granted, Bethesda co-developed) was another big hit.
Sometimes internet discussions about Bethesda are truly bizarre to see. A lot of people on the internet seem to be extremely eager for Bethesda to fail, I think it's considered very cool to sagely nod your head and say that they haven't made anything remotely good since Morrowind.

Yeah, I did hear that. Too many people and departments trying to co-ordinate, and feature creep followed by scaling back caused a lot of problems.
I'm very optimistic about Elder Scrolls VI, though! It shouldn't have the same problems, it's not like Starfield where they wanted to have thousands of planets with procedurally-generated maps on them.

Space games like that become a black hole of despair and delay. I'm glad they won't have Fallout to distract them from making good Elder Scrolls games.
