I’m not an expert, but I’d imagine whatever skill somebody has in fighting they only retain until they get that one knockout punch that scrambles their brain just enough to make them lose all their skill.

Obviously any serious injury can pretty much end your career but a lot of these guys keep going for the money and to prove to themselves they still have it only to find out they don't have it like Conor. Should have hung it up after snapping his leg but he just had to come back

I guess it’s not entirely about the money, some people also just like martial arts. Although, not all sports, technically I guess not even all fighting sports have the same stakes. Everybody has a different way to value things, so some people I guess to them potentially millions of dollars is worth risking permanent bodily damage. I feel like for me personally though, I wouldn’t do that, just because, I don’t really have a backup body, you know?

I mean, breaking bones is one thing, not that I’ve ever broken a bone, but injuries where you damage the cartilage between your joints, that never heals. Once you’ve damaged that, you’ve got a bad joint until you die basically. Although, that’s not particularly easy to do… but not impossible either.
