The problem with Luther is that he changed the faith, so he no longer beleived what the Church has consistently taught for over a thousand years. Who today has changed the faith? Who has an obsession for Luther, so much so, that he had a statue of him planted in the Paul VI auditorium in the Vatican? Who was it that celebrated the 500th anniversary of Luther's revolt in 2017? That would be Francis the Apostate and his new synodal church.

I googled it, and that’s completely out of context, it was during a meeting with the church of Sweden. Pope Francis wanted to create a church "that is poor and for the poor" so his angle was that the Catholic Church should denounce excess and that we should reconcile with Protestants, that doesn’t mean that he agreed with Lutheran theology. Christianity is a religion of forgiveness, the church is always attempting to reconcile with literally everything, you could make the same type of bs argument about a pope meeting with leaders of a number of other religions.

It’s obvious you’re a Protestant and not a Catholic but clearly you’d rather take the low road and instead of debate your beliefs honestly, you’d rather impersonate a Catholic and say stupid things that you agree with to make me look bad. I don’t know why you can’t put two and two together that if your views make me look bad, that means you have bad views, but you’re not exactly smart, so I wouldn’t expect you to.

I guess the thing is, there’s good and bad in most things. You can be a Catholic and say that Luther was correct about some things and incorrect about other things the same way you can say Buddhists are correct about some things and incorrect about other things the same way you can say Hitler was correct about some things and incorrect about other things (although in the case of Hitler, it would have to be some smart aleck answer like Hitler thought 2 + 2 was 4). Just because somebody wasn’t wrong about everything and you say that doesn’t mean you agree with them or you support them. In this case, pope Francis was acknowledging that in the past, the Catholic Church was what it was and that some criticisms are fair, but that the Catholic Church should strive towards an ideal moral standard, that doesn’t make him a reformist. In the past, the Catholic Church used to be more powerful than governments, and not all the actions of the church were necessarily good. But that doesn’t mean the solution is to do away with it entirely.

Although, to be fair, that was before the enlightenment, so it’s not like the authoritarian monarchies ruling over feudal peasants would have any been better if there was separation of church and state. But that’s not an excuse, that’s just the reality of it.
