Out of all of those mosquito diseases, Zika is probably the most terrifying, not in an individual sort of way, because I already have a brain. But the concept that a disease could spread and make all our babies have little brains. Something about that is kind of scary for humanity. Not in that Zika has the ability to spread around the word, but just that in theory that’s possible to make a disease that could make us all devolve.

…speaking of Zika, what if you could do the opposite and have planet of the apes IRL? Like an anti Zika that makes your brain big. What effect would that have on humans to be born with a bigger than average brain? Would they survive child birth? 🤔

You can’t kill off mosquitoes because it would have calamitous effects on the food chain. Bats, migratory birds, and amphibians could die. Make mosquitoes are pollinators. It’s also hard to extirpate something with 3,500 species.
