The Catholic Church is the church Jesus founded upon Peter, Peter was the first pope, all popes are the successors of Peter, if you don’t accept the pope as the leader of the church, then you aren’t Catholic. Very straightforward, very clear, very obvious. End result was very predictable.

He might post about it on Truth Social or something, but I think he’s distracted with some crypto thing he’s getting criticized for so he might miss it entirely.

It doesn't really matter if trump is religious I'd say. A lot of the stuff he's done has been suggested to him by people around him. He's essentially a puppet. We'll see though

Yeah, but then again, Melania is Catholic, JD Vance is Catholic, and most of the Supreme Court is Catholic, and a lot of Trump’s wins in terms of power have been coming from the Supreme Court since congress is split. I really doubt he’s going to do anything, especially since the Vatican is in Europe. It’s unfortunate, but if you bomb a brown country that’s poor, people don’t care. But he’s not going to do anything in Italy. Especially since it’s part of NATO, an attack on one is considered an attack on all, he’s not going to go to war with every European country at the same time, he’s not that stupid.

To be fair, they appointed some bishops without the approval of the Vatican which is something people can be excommunicated for and they were warned before they did it and they were only excommunicated after they did it, so it was sort of their own fault.

Why now though? They knew they'd be excommunicated so they went into this looking for a fight and the question is why? And more specifically why at this time?

From Reddit:
As a Catholic, I accidentally attended one of their church services a few years back with my mom when looking for a catholic service in an unfamiliar city.
These people are nuts. My mother and I have never walked out of church before in our lives but we only made it 20 minutes.

I did the same thing in Paris and felt like it was the church before Vat II, only enhanced to some dystopian level. They had a priest patrolling the aisles, watching for misbehavior, including women not wearing a head cover of some type. I also left.

The breaking point was when the priest started talking about vaccines as demonic.

@1,444,224 (A) > they're like le wacky and crazy idk lmao
Yeah I'm not buying that. If the pope and SSPX were seemingly on good terms until recently, there's no need to jeopardize that unless it's for a good reason. Something has to come from this we just don't know what
Tensions with the Holy See climaxed in 1988, when Lefebvre consecrated four priests as bishops — Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Alfonso de Galarreta, and Richard Williamson — without an Apostolic Mandate and against a personal warning from Pope John Paul II,[10] incurring automatic (latæ sententiæ) excommunication.[11] The SSPX disputed that any penalty had been incurred, citing a moral and theological crisis in the Church. This excommunication was lifted in 2009 at the bishops' request.[citation needed] The society's broader canonical status remained unresolved for decades, though Pope Francis extended ecclesiastical jurisdiction to SSPX-administered confessions (2017)[12] and marriages.[13]
The church generally tries to resolve conflicts. They were never really on good terms, it seems like there was more of an attempt to resolve the issue and integrate them into the church, but that failed so they got kicked out.

The Catholic Church still tries to resolve the schism with Orthodoxy by reintegrating Orthodox Churches as Eastern Catholic Churches. Christianity focuses heavily on forgiveness so even thought there’s the idea that the pope has authority over the church and schism warrants excommunication, there’s always some sort of attempt or desire to unify Christianity - but only if it’s under Rome.

You're only proving my point. It's been over 30 years. They could have done it again plenty of times but they waited until now. Something is up

You're misunderstanding. I'm saying it's been over 30 years since the last big conflict between SSPX and the Vatican. Why wouldn't they start a fight for 30 years and then say "fuck it let's start a fight again"? I know your answer is "lol they're just wacky goofy silly guys lmao" but I think that's bullshit

"The elite" aren’t especially spectacular in terms of skill or intelligence or anything. They’re just average people in extraordinary circumstances. If you walk up to a random guy on the street it’s 50/50 he’s smarter than the president.

Tbh I don’t really like monarchy but the reason why I like the pope anyway is because it’s an elected monarchy and I feel like that’s more honest. It’s like, you’re not born special.

My only question is: do you believe that because you see evidence for it, or do you believe it because it’s more comforting to believe that the world is secretly run by competent people even if you think they have bad intentions?
