I'm a little disappointed, yeah. I think there's a lot to be said for owning physical media, especially the practical advantage that it can never be taken away from you or delisted like digital media can. But still, I'm a PC gamer so this won't effect anything I was ever likely to play anyway.
I guess with gaming, at least, you do still have the files on your device (and it's not a live service or multiplayer game), then you can access it even if it's delisted. It isn't like Netflix, where if they take it down then it's gone.

Why else? I'm curious about how people are feeling about gaming becoming shittier. I've already reached nirvana with old games and indies but I know many poor souls still wander the console badlands

Fucking SaaS is making everyone a tenant in their own life. I like physical media and owning games. Honestly the last generation of consoles has messed with this by requiring you to download or update it, so pick up and play was basically dead. For what? A slightly higher frame rate? Seeing a character’s hair blow in the wind?

My XBox One was a POS. I traded it in after a couple months. I play some remastered games on the Switch. It seems like the time to strike for some renegade indie studios to collaborate and T-bone an enshittified gaming industry. Sure, they won’t create GTA 6, but one could argue that GTA 5 was boring and overwrought.

What's actually going to happen is many people will move to PC after this and that's when the corpos start planning on squeezing every red cent out of PC players. PC players think they're safe but they really aren't. At least not PC players who care about modern AAA games
