It’s not the noir gumshoe stuff. Mostly I looked up assets, took pictures, found hidden property for divorce cases or business pissing matches. Sometimes I took pictures.

No, I don't believe you. I think that the PI was a divorced alcoholic, whose office was in black and white, and he regularly got into gunfights while solving cases.

He was frequently waylaid and hit with a blackjack. I’d find him duct taped to his chair.

A lot of clients were older women who couldn’t deal with getting older. Rather than be a natural fading beauty they got procedures that made them look like they were in the throes of anaphylactic shock.
