Obviously wordpress is easier to get the hang of, but I'm already feeling boxed in quite a bit. Drupal can do anything but documentation seems weak.

wordpress shouldn't be too limiting if your idea fits into the blog format at all.

Nevermind, I'm going with WordPress. It's more geared toward the little guy whereas Drupal is big business. My main concern was being able to add a forum after getting a hundred or so readers, but I've learned there are modules for WordPress to do exactly that.
Seems I'd learn a lot more about how sites work by using Drupal, but the themes are so weak. I'm not ready to design my own theme quite yet.
