I feel like southern black people have good food from what I’ve seen on the internet. I’m not southern tho. TBH I feel like I want to try African food from Africa though, I want to try jollof rice at some point, I’ve just never gotten around to it.

This is intended to be a joke btw because all Americans eat spaghetti, pizza, basically we just take Italian food, we take a massive dump all over it, and call it our own.

Soul food is amazing. But like most Southern cooking it’s deadly if you aren’t burning 8,000 calories a day sharecropping or ploughing by hand. A lot of the recipes make all parts of an animal palatable. That’s not an easy feat considering the horrors of northern English cooking.

I used to live in the south actually. That’s one thing I noticed, people down there are fat. It’s not even a black or a white thing, just people in general. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like it in the north, but when I went to Europe for the first time and got off the plane and looked around me, I realized my entire perception of a normal body weight had been distorted by American society. Everybody in Europe is noticeably thinner.

I feel like there are a lot more Asian restaurants in the US in the north at least than African restaurants. At my college there was some CS event I went to that was organized by some South African students and I realized I never had South African food before that. I should probably try out more African places.
