Something I wonder sometimes about human psychology is when people on the internet talk about Japan in World War Two, they talk about suicide like it’s weird or something or it’s something alien about Japanese culture. But then sometimes you hear about things, like that one white guy who’s last words were "make me a meme coin" before he shot himself in the head on a Twitter livestream playing Russian roulette after he lost $500 trading crypto. And when you think about it, you sort of wonder.

Usually you think people kill themselves because they’re sad or something. What if some people just die because they think it’s funny somehow? Or like that "domestic terrorist" who parked a rental tesla cybertruck outside one of Trump’s hotels, lit some fireworks on fire in the back of his truck and shot himself in the head, and everybody thought it was a terrorist attack until they found his suicide note and apparently he was a veteran and wanted to die in a fun way. What if some people are just like that?

Japanese soldiers were indoctrinated with shame and fear of what American soldiers would do to them. Funny thing was, they did so in service of a cowardly emperor who denied his role and responsibilities and senior officers who lied to preserve their honor and surrendered.

Yeah. I guess the other thing about Japan is during the Vietnam war, Americans who didn’t want to fight just left America. But Japan had sort of already pissed off… everybody in Asia. And it’s an island.
Mostly I just think it’s interesting people on the internet put so much emphasis on Japan’s culture being weird because they did suicidal stuff, when it’s clearly not unique to Japanese culture.

Personally, I feel like I wouldn’t want to fight a naval war. 5% because I don’t want to drown, but 95% because I don’t wanna be hanging out with this guy at the bottom of the ocean until the end of time.
And what if reincarnation is physical? They say you are what you eat. Do you want to be a sea pig in the next life?
