Yeah, I mean, that is a possibility. You can kill someone using weapons controlled by an LLM and that doesn’t mean the LLM is thinking.

Everyone should read Phillip K. Dick’s Auto-Fac.

You missed the point, mate.

When people talk about the effects of AI, some philosophical point about them thinking has nothing to do with it.

You have this idea, that's not falsifiable, and it doesn't have any meaningful impact on anything AI can do so it's just navel gazing.

It’s not falsifiable that a stateless program running on a deterministic machine is a stateless program running on a deterministic machine and not a conscious life form?

Honestly I feel like a lot of this is just delusion. It’s like when people take drugs and start thinking they’re talking to interdimensional beings.

It is both real and hype. AI has tremendous capabilities that are also overplayed. You have two mega IPOs that need to succeed, insane revenue targets, and Google dumping Switzerland’s GDP into data centers.

At the same time, Mythos is next level. The publicly available version will actively sabotage any attempts to use it to code AI software and certain other types, and blocks dark scientific endeavors.

The assertion that human brains are any less deterministic than silicon computers.

What do you mean by stateless? Most chatbots have memories already
