Topic: "Why hasn’t Africa achieved what Singapore has achieved"

Anonymous A started this discussion 2 hours ago #135,434

I remember a while ago some guy on here asked me why Africa, a continent that has almost no islands doesn’t have a wealthy island city state authoritarian dictatorship. I mean he didn’t phrase it like that, but that’s what Singapore is, it’s a wealthy authoritarian dictatorship with anal retentive laws pretending to be a democracy but not trying very hard. Especially given that the United States has the death penalty, we execute about 20 people a year, Singapore executes between 4 and 20 per year and it’s a city state… but they say they don’t have any crime. Like, really think about that. Either that means they’re lying about the crime rate or it means they’re executing people for the hell of it.

But then you’re probably thinking "oh but they’re Asian people support the death penalty in Asia, it’s just a different culture." No actually, a similar percentage of the population supports the death penalty in Japan and they execute way fewer people.

I’m just saying… if there was an executions per capita index, by virtue of executing the same number of people as AMERICA being a damn CITY…

And yeah right, you can leave your laptop in a cafe for an hour and it won’t get stolen wow. You know what I do in America? I put my laptop in my backpack and I won’t get executed if a police officer plants weed on me, because I don’t even drink so that’s the only way drugs would ever be found on me.

…might get shot for crossing the street though, so there’s that. So is it more dangerous in America? Yes, probably. But it feels more honorable to be killed by a racist white guy in a mass shooting because then at least people feel bad for you and respect you.

If you weren't so busy switching IDs and mindlessly belching out words like a fucking retarded LLM, you'd have googled this and found out that Seychelles is exactly that: an island city-state authoritarian dictatorship.
