US vs Japanese GDP

Quality counts for something. We produce loud, fat assholes and Japan cranks out hotties and great cars.

Some people think money is power or technology is power.

Power is power. America won WW2, Japan lost. The Snowden leaks showed us that the entire country is being monitored by the US. All of their technological designs, skeletons in the closet, and business deals are known by the US immediately.

To be fair, I don’t think we needed Snowden to tell us that specifically.

Tbh I think Japan has an awkward place in the hierarchy they fit themselves into with the west. They lost to the west, but they colonized Asia. I could be wrong since I’ve never been there, but from a distance it doesn’t seem healthy.

No hate though, I just hope things get better for them. Not really sure how that’s going to happen. They were so close, they were so close. I’m not talking about World War Two, I mean their economy. They were so close.

Now America won against Japan and that makes sense.

This one is a little more interesting.

Isn't that because Ireland is a tax haven for things like Facebook?

Fiat currency is backed by nothing except trust so it really doesn’t matter how money is produced, it only matters that people think it’s worth something.

Now the thing is, right, if you think there’s such a thing as a country doing a capitalism "the right way" dig a little bit deeper. It doesn’t matter if it’s a rich country or a poor country, every country has something shady going on.

Mr. Big Black Friday triple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 2 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #1,439,133

What’s impressive about the from of shady going on in Ireland is it made the line go up. The shady stuff going on in the Japanese economy with their debt doesn’t make the line go up. That just means the scam is working, and that’s why it’s cool. You have to be smart to make your scam work, anyone can try to scam but not everyone is successful at it.

Mr. Big Black Friday quadruple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 14 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,439,135

Japan will pay off their debt from having an aging population with no immigration at some point in the future when this is not an issue. When is that? Nobody knows. The scam is keeping them afloat, but it is not quite enough to make the world believe that Japan is the future. If people believed it was, it would be, but they don’t believe, so it’s not, because that’s what everything is. The economy is just vibes.

Many people speculated the US government spied on Americans, but even that was dismissed by a lot as a conspiracy.

It was not a common idea that the US was operating a dragnet over the entire nation of Japan.

> Fiat currency is backed by nothing except trust so it really doesn’t matter how money is produced, it only matters that people think it’s worth something.

Ireland doesn't "produce money" the ECB is in charge of producing new Euros.

Irish industry creates new wealth to bring in currency, but that isn't what is happening when they operate as a tax haven.

This has nothing to do with using/trusting a fiat currency, either. If there actually was excess currency compared to real production, inflation would still happen because those with the excess money would bid up prices.

When a company moves to Ireland on paper to avoid taxes they are not necessarily bringing jobs to the area, and they are not necessarily spending their profits in Ireland. The only real change is that their profits are counted on paper as being earned in Ireland. What srockholders do with their money after that could be anything. They could live in America, get their dividend, and then spend it in America.

This has nothing at all to do with fiat currency. If the EU backed their currency by gold you could still incorporate a corporation in Ireland for tax reasons, nothing would be fundamentally different.

Well like, I remember looking into Hiroshima one time, because I was just curious about it. People usually portray the reason why the Japanese forgave it is because they’re just forgiving people, but the US actually enforced strict censorship where nobody was allowed to criticize the atomic bombing of Japan during the occupation and that’s the real reason why.

Anonymous G double-posted this 2 weeks ago, 34 seconds later, 13 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,439,178

So if you know that, then you can kinda infer everything else pretty much.

Or, if you even think about some details of the Japanese government. For example, America wrote their constitution, Japanese people don’t have the right to bear arms. Ironically, that’s probably good for their society and has led to them being safer than the US. Or why Japan can have a "self defense force" or why Japan is basically a de-facto one party "democracy." I’m just saying…

Anonymous G quadruple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 2 minutes later, 14 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,439,181

I’m just saying, 32 Japanese prime ministers have been from the LDP, 9 have been from another party, but in America the right was talking about the current prime minister’s "victory" as if having an LDP prime minister is unexpected somehow. There’s literally no point on betting on Japanese elections.

Do they mew like cats during actual sex or just during cringey Japanese porn?

It’s kinda funny their Conservative Party is called "the liberal Democratic Party."
