Ngl, I took a class in college about a year ago where we watched Triumph of the Will. Compared to Trump I found it embarrassing on two levels.
1. It was genuinely less racist and less crude than a lot of right wing media I’ve seen online.
2. It was more intelligent propaganda than anything Trump has said.
There’s this one scene in Triumph of the Will where a bunch of Nazis are standing in a field holding shovels and Adolf Hitler was giving a speech to them where he said he was giving all Germans the right to work. (Really he was just drafting them all into the army). But I thought about it, Trump would never in a million years be smart enough to come up with that type of lie. Or there was another scene where Hitler was speaking to the Hitler youth in a stadium and he said something along the lines of, "Most of all, I want you, the youth of Germany to be peace loving." Complete lie, but he was smart enough to tell an inspiring lie like that. Like it just feels embarrassing how much more stupid Trump’s propaganda is relative to Hitler’s but Americans fall for Trump. It just makes you feel like everybody is stupid and you’re living in a country of morons.

The point isn’t that the Nazis are better morally, the point is they were just so much better at propaganda.
