Seriously, I see so many of these articles about new agey older women finding themselves, getting divorced “to focus on me,” etc. Not to be harsh, but it sounds like menopause and cope.
As a guy in that age bracket, I’ll be on a date only to have these same women on their journey make disparaging remarks about me dating a younger woman (30s, early 40s). It’s not like my date is 25, though yes if it were available.
Maybe some of us don’t want to deal with someone else’s midlife issues, baggage, debt, attitude, or having to answer for something some guy in their past did. Plus unless they’re doing HRT, sex isn’t readily available, plentiful, or good. Worse still, they bombard you with ennui and chatter about topics that nobody on earth could possibly give a shit about. A coworker’s daughter’s wedding. This woman was at the top of her field and I was very interested in that but she’d rather prattle on like some senile great aunt used to.
I had one woman who was 49 tell me she wouldn’t sleep with someone until after 6 months. Fine. Good for you. But you’re not a debutante and you’re not Elizabeth Hurley or Jane Seymour. I can land a 33 year old nurse with little personal time who likes to drink some tequila, or go to a nice restaurant, and get down. Enjoy your journey and maybe lighten up.
