Seriously, I see so many of these articles about new agey older women finding themselves, getting divorced “to focus on me,” etc. Not to be harsh, but it sounds like menopause and cope.
As a guy in that age bracket, I’ll be on a date only to have these same women on their journey make disparaging remarks about me dating a younger woman (30s, early 40s). It’s not like my date is 25, though yes if it were available.
Maybe some of us don’t want to deal with someone else’s midlife issues, baggage, debt, attitude, or having to answer for something some guy in their past did. Plus unless they’re doing HRT, sex isn’t readily available, plentiful, or good. Worse still, they bombard you with ennui and chatter about topics that nobody on earth could possibly give a shit about. A coworker’s daughter’s wedding. This woman was at the top of her field and I was very interested in that but she’d rather prattle on like some senile great aunt used to.
I had one woman who was 49 tell me she wouldn’t sleep with someone until after 6 months. Fine. Good for you. But you’re not a debutante and you’re not Elizabeth Hurley or Jane Seymour. I can land a 33 year old nurse with little personal time who likes to drink some tequila, or go to a nice restaurant, and get down. Enjoy your journey and maybe lighten up.

100%. I know a guy that's getting a suprise divorce as his lady is finding herself and travelling now... seems exceedingly selfish to 'work on myself' instead of handling the household and walking away from a life they shared together. Now he's got like two full rooms of craft cave shit he has to deal with and he's single at 50.

Doubt. At 30 the average guy is still young enough to be fit, and is probably taking his health seriously and earning real money foe the first time. He's also just finished being brushed off by women in his 20s.
Older women can get younger guys that are immature and not making money. They can get guys much older than then if she's pleasant. Women in their 40s are not getting guys in their 30s unless there's something wrong with the guy or she's a bombshell.

It’s biology vs economics. After menopause a woman can’t have children but the younger you are, the dumber it is to have a child because you will have a smaller net worth.

That’s basically the reason why birth rates have been falling all over the world, including in African countries with higher birth rates. Uneducated people want to have as much sex as they can while they’re young to impress people or whatever, but more educated people realize the financial burden of having children then get scared off from having sex, and then the birth rate plummets.
