I've also noticed that meats that have been cooked to a point of low-fattedness have been described as too dry. So we've these other meanings in tandem with low-water content dryness, as in freeze-dried foodstuffs.

If the meat is dry enough you can crush it into a powder in the olfactory sense and snort it.
