Every time you buy a home or refinance you pay for parasitic Title Insurance that just covers that transaction. If offers no further protection unless you get a premium policy. And, of course, the “lock” policies charge more and offer no protection.
This is one of many things that has me roll my eyes over hand wringing about “street criminals” when finance, insurance, packaged food companies, low quality product producers, etc., all try to steal unearned money from your pocket.
