I was thinking about it. I can’t say this in real life so I’m gonna say it anonymously on the intent. I’ve come across videos on the internet from Vietnam veterans and World War Two veterans and it occurred to me that even though I’m in my early 20s, a lot of guys in the past died for America younger than I am now, like at 18 or 19. I was thinking about it, World War Two veterans, you gotta wonder what it’s gotta be like being 90 years old and the only interesting thing about you is when you killed some people at 18. I just wonder, thinking about it, I mean, war is traumatic, right? But the thing is, what else was good about being alive back in the 40s? Not much. I mean think about it, no internet, insane racism, leaded gasoline, asbestos in everything, everybody smoked, everybody probably smelled like shit all the time. You know the Japanese kamikazes, it didn’t make sense to me until I saw some footage from Japan from the 1930s on YouTube and there were dirt roads everywhere. Like that was a different time. If I came from some village somewhere and I never had the internet, half the world was controlled by the British empire, and I was some stupid guy is probably wanna kill myself too. That sounds boring as hell. And then they were traditional back then. Like, what if, actually, the only good thing about being alive back in the 40s was the war? What if the only thing that gave life meaning was the thrill of firebombing civilians in Japan flying overhead in an American bomber? They didn’t have Star Wars back then, you couldn’t watch a movie about wars in space yet. Think about that. Think about how primitive that society was, 1940s America. They were basically twice removed from cavemen. You know how often people still die in plane crashes trying to fly in wwii era planes at air shows? It’s pretty common. They weren’t safe planes, they just didn’t care because there’s no point in being alive in the 40s. They were all going to go to hell anyway, because everybody back then were all a bunch of racist so who cares, what difference does it make if you burn a few Japanese kids or whatever. I really honestly believe that if Gen Z was drafted to fight in World War Two, I mean, I don’t know about yall, but I’d make the most of it, I’d rob the place blind, I’d bust in an electronics store, load up my tank with MacBook pros, fire a shell through the glass of a jewelry store because diamonds are invincible anyway. I’d be fucking crazy, I’d bust down a door to question some family and walk out with a TV. I’m not trying to do nothing honorable, I don’t give a shit. And you know what I’m telling my grandkids? Exactly what the World War Two veterans told theirs, I’m saving the world, I did it for America, they deserved it, the end.

You know what the difference between being dirt poor in North Korea or Afghanistan today is vs being from any of the empires in the 1940s? More than zero people in North Korea have smartphones. I’m just saying.

Now honestly, if we go to war over Taiwan and they make me fight for that, it’s whatever, just don’t make me say some bullshit like I care about freedom or democracy, I only care because China makes the iPhones and Taiwan makes the chips for the iPhones, and I want iPhones. I don’t care about anything else, and I don’t want to have to pretend that I’m killing people over anything else.
