What happens when you need to get groceries or drop a box off at the post office? How do bikehipstersâ„¢ usually manage these things? Do I ask for a ride or borrow a car?

I'm not sure how practical not having a car and just a bike would be someday, but I'm leaving it open as an option I think.

Move to a town where the post office is closer. Buy saddle bags or a backpack.
I ride when the place is close enough. Short trips are very hard on a motor, especially one with high mileage.

idunno, but it's fixed gear, lol.
if you have a bike with a rack on the back it's even easier to put a basket on, as all you need is a couple of bungee cords.

fixies seem popular.
and no cause I grew up in the country where it's too remote to bike, and then moved to the valleys of LA where people can't really use bikes for daily transportation because it's too hilly.
when I move to north central orange county where it's flat, I can consider biking as a daily commute.
