Can any of you awesome people point me in the right direction? I found a niche, and prob won't make any money out of it but hey it's just a bit of fun really. It doesn't need to be anything too complex either, Any advice? 'Caue I know you lot know your stuff :)

For discount hosting use HostGator or NetFirms ONLY. If you get good traffic you'll probably need to upgrade eventually to keep your site from loading too slow. Not sure if it's a technical issue or if they actively throttle to upsell existing, but it sure seems to be true anecdotally.
If it's a blog and you're hoping for a decent rating in Google you're always better off using a wordpress template, as it's architecture is well understood by Google's crawler. And get backlinks. Budget money to buy backlinks every month. Suck dicks for backlinks if you have to.
