I mean back in the PS1/N64 days- hell even when I had the og nintendo console and sega genesis, games were fun and had replay value. something that current games somehow lack.

I'm glad I'm out of that hobby, I always felt like shit when I got burned on a $50 or $60 release or whatever (which seems like it'd be most releases anymore, what a dumpster fire).

Same. I was done when the new consoles required always on Internet and you couldn’t play off the disc. Everything had updates. Throw in Day 1 DLC and the rest of the shitty “as a service” model and my reaction was go fuck yourselves.
I respect the smart programmers who created Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox. I have no interest in any of them but they’re immersive and multifaceted and don’t hang up on graphics so you can see some elvish twink’s hair flutter.
