basically they started punk rock how we know it today.the ramones basically took rock and made it faster, simpler, and dirtier — three chords, tiny songs, and a nonstop energy that sounded like someone finally stopped trying to impress and just started to scream. their look and attitude (leather jackets, messy hair, no-show-off solos) made it a look too
their first record and the early shows got people fired up in new york and london, and a bunch of kids started copying the sound and the authentic vibe. they didn’t invent every piece of punk, but they made something new that a ton of bands jumped on.
