Use of abundant hydroelectric and geothermal power has made Iceland the world's largest electricity producer per capita
Until the 20th century, Iceland was a fairly poor country. Whaling in Iceland was historically significant. It is now one of the most developed countries in the world. Strong economic growth led Iceland to be ranked third in the United Nations' Human Development Index report for 2021/2024 According to the Economist Intelligence. Iceland had the second-highest quality of life in the world.
Iceland's Casual sex culture is the most liberal in the world
That's a little "simplified" but drugs are gonna do what drugs do, so I suppose we'll see how bad the drug problem becomes in northern Europe, I haven't really noticed. Except in the slaughterhouse.

It seems like it’s easier for countries that are the size of cities to develop. Iceland, and Ireland for example, not a city states, but google their population and compare it to NYC.

Sounds awesome. The U.S. is priggish, sex negative, and the sexual revolution has become like a really bad version of pay-to-play prostitution.

In Iceland, a country with a population of 320,000 where most everyone is distantly related, inadvertently kissing cousins is a real risk.
A new smartphone app is on hand to help Icelanders avoid accidental incest. The app lets users "bump" phones, and emits a warning alarm if they are closely related. "Bump the app before you bump in bed," says the catchy slogan.
Someone who uses this site, would have his phone burning up with that app.
Mostly it's people worried about their children having some horrible genetic flaw, like getting hooked on some obscure discussion place online.
Edit: meanwhile the app is built on church records for the most part, which means they asked around and didn't get perfect info. For example it's known to happen that somebody's father isn't actually their father.

One would think a DNA company would go after this population.
Well apparently some icelandic guy made some big bucks doing just that. It's also how weird stuff like icelandic women being mostly of Scottish and Irish decent... Gets discovered.

Everyone is either Irish or hasn’t realized it yet.
