There’s something so funny about the complete lack of self awareness in the documentary of what they just did. Literally using background music from the last samurai while packing up a German steel mill rebuilding it in China and being like, "Look at what these clever Chinese are doing!" Maybe look at what you dumb westerners are doing, you packed up a literal German steel mill and rebuilt the thing in Shanghai. What were you thinking!

Tbh I’ve never seen the last samurai but I heard the main character who is supposed to be Japanese was played by a white guy… I’m gonna google that after I post this comment to find out whether that’s true or not.

Okay yeah the main character is a white dude lol.
That’s also funny, using music from a movie about Japan where a white guy plays as a samurai in a documentary about China getting a steel mill from Germany. There are just so many levels to it that make it comedic.

Somehow it’s China’s fault that Western elites are backstabbing and selfish money grubbers. Aided by political elites who are content to take donations and promote a services economy that consists of taking money out of one person’s pocket to put in another’s. And endless tiered offerings. (You bought a plane ticket? It’s unbundled now!)

One half of the political divide already says its somehow helpful to have mass immigration so that desperate people can undercut middle class wages.
How is this any different? It's actually more streamlined boxing up some machines than to have live people who need to be processed, fed, and reintegrated into a culture where they don't necessarily know the language, law, and unwritten social rules.
At least this way they don't experience what Sweden did. As a lefty might put it, the reason Sweden is the rape capital of the world because, coincidentally, women started feeling really comfortable about repirting rapes right after mass immigration.

I always thought this argument was dumb. All the countries the right complains about for having high immigration have much better economies than countries that don’t have immigration. If the US didn’t have immigration our birth rate is below replacement so we’d have the same economic problems as Japan. Japan has a terrible economy.

I mean, right wing racists like you talk shit about black Americans all the time. You know black Americans in the United States earn more than Japanese people do in Japan? The United States is the richest country in the world in part because of immigration. Homogenous countries don’t innovate.
Notice how the US and China have the largest GDP and no other country in the world comes close. China has 4x the population of the United States, but we still have a larger economy than China. Ethnically homogenous countries aren’t economically or technologically competitive.

A nation is the people, not the land.
If the birth rate is below replacement, and you import foreigners rather than increase the birthrate, you are not saving the nation you are replacing it.
> If the birth rate is below replacement, and you import foreigners rather than increase the birthrate, you are not saving the nation you are replacing it.
And? What’s your point. If the native population has a low birth rate, the low birth rate of the native population is low regardless of whether you import or don’t import immigrants. They’re all going to die of old age either way, so who cares? It’s better to have a land with people than an empty land. Your argument doesn’t make any sense.

I mean, really, all of us will be replaced. That’s just biology. We don’t live forever. Just because you’re the same race as your children, you’re not your children. When you die you’re gone. You gain no benefit by having a population that looks like you used to look while you were alive once you’re a skeleton. It’s completely meaningless.
Darkness quintuple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 3 minutes later, 11 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,250
And once you are a skeleton, nobody who walks past your headstone is gonna know what you looked like. They’ll just see a name, a date, maybe go, "Oh that’s interesting that was a long time ago wow." Then move on.
Darkness sextuple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 3 minutes later, 11 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,251
However, what does benefit you is living in a country with a functional economy before you die. This is why I’d rather live in a country with immigrants than life in a giant hospice masquerading as a country.
Darkness septuple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 2 minutes later, 11 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,252
Plus it’s like, I don’t know, I’m two races, I’ve had friends who are different races. We’re all human, I don’t care if people don’t look like me, there are so many cool people in the world who don’t look like me. Nationalism is so boring and stupid. Plus it killed millions of people to achieve basically nothing for humanity.
Darkness octuple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 1 minute later, 11 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,253
And the thing is right, if you don’t like diversity, there are two ways to get rid of it: either you kill people who are different from you, or you reproduce with people who are different from you. If everybody can immigrate wherever they want and have kids with whoever they want, eventually the entire planet will be the same race and you’ll achieve your goal of global homogeneity, but without killing people. So I mean if you want homogeny, this seems like a more ethical way to achieve it.

And I guess, is death really so terrible? People die, countries die, cultures die, species die. Eventually Earth will die. The sun will die. Everything dies.
Darkness joined in and replied with this 2 weeks ago, 10 minutes later, 11 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,255
And there are alternate theories to this, not everyone thinks the universe will continue to expand forever, there are theories maybe there’s a cycle of birth and death. But one possibility is, the universe keeps expanding. Eventually, the expansion is uniform, some galaxies that we can see now will be moving away from us faster than the speed of light, and eventually we won’t be able to see other galaxies. Then, stars fuse hydrogen into helium and then helium into heavier elements. Eventually, there’s not going to be any more hydrogen or helium and there won’t be any stars left in the sky. So it’s possible even the universe will die.

The world has developed to a point where we all rely on things that are beyond the capability of any individual nation to produce. For example, there is no country in the world that can take raw materials, make the machines that make the machines that make the machines and make a smartphone that way. Even China can’t really do this from start to finish. But we all use smartphones. Nationalists and racists in the modern world are universally hypocrites who depend on people of other races and people from other countries.
Darkness double-posted this 2 weeks ago, 4 minutes later, 16 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,279
Not just in the modern world, even in the past. The Nazis were hypocrites, they were white supremacists, but Hitler didn’t see how Germany could defeat the Soviet Union on its own so he wanted an ally in Asia to invade the Soviet Union at the same time as him, so he made an exception for Japan and China in Mein Kampf, but not for Korea since Japan had already invaded Korea. But then Japan invaded China, so he couldn’t ally with China, and when he invaded the Soviet Union, Japan didn’t because they didn’t see it was in their self interest so thankfully, that entire plan failed. But still, even the most racist guy ever was a hypocrite.
Darkness triple-posted this 2 weeks ago, 5 minutes later, 16 hours after the original post[^][v]#1,431,280
Which also kinda shows how he was making up all the race ideology out of thin air based on whatever suited him, but that’s why to this day some racists feel the need to fetishize Japanese culture.
