Consider this since we love throwing that word for giggles and excrement:
The term "subhuman" is used as a slur to dehumanize people(mainly blacks), but ironically from a taxonomic standpoint it applies equally to every member of the Homo genus including Homo sapiens.
All Homo species, whether sapiens, neanderthalensis, or erectus, descend from a common ancestral species, making them all subdivisions of a parent category.
Much like how an <h2> heading in HTML sits beneath an <h1>, every Homo species is essentially a "sub" section of that original root. The true <h1> or the common ancestor is long extinct, leaving all of us at the same hierarchical level.
So when "subhuman" is wielded as an insult to place certain people beneath others, it falls apart under its own logic: if everyone is equally a subdivision of the same ancestral root, then everyone is equally "subhuman" which ultimately renders the term meaningless and dumb as a tool of degradation.
