In the United States if you’re half black, it doesn’t matter if you’re half white or half Asian or half whatever, you can call yourself fully black if you want to. There’s no concept that half black people aren’t black in American society. That’s not a thing in our culture. Obama was half black. How many people have you ever in your entire life heard say Obama isn’t black? Nobody ever says that. And not all people with brown skin tones who are black are half white. Some of them are fully black.

I think how it went it white people wanted to be exclusive and obsess over purity, but then black people in America saw that and realized the easiest thing in the world would be to just do the opposite of that and consider literally anybody who’s slightly black fully black.
