Topic: I really like the direction Ireland is headed in

Anonymous A started this discussion 3 weeks ago #133,478

Out of every country in the world, I look at Irish politics, and it just makes sense. A UFC fighter ran for president and a woman who identified as a socialist but isn’t a member of any party in particular won the election? It just makes sense.

The best part is the Irish president is just the equivalent of what a monarch is in a constitutional monarchy but only elected and with term limits so it really didn’t matter that much anyway.

Tangent: constitutional monarchies are fake monarchies.

Like Japan for instance, Japan has an emperor but no empire. Make that make sense.

Then even better, Ireland has nationalist socialist parties but no national socialist parties. America could use some left wing nationalism. We have no concept of being nationalist, being republican, and being far left at the same time. The American mind cannot understand that.

It makes perfect sense why can’t sensible people realize that you can want everyone to have a quality standard of living, you can be for immigration, AND be for expanding the borders of the nation all at the same time!

Someone should combine Trump's nationalism with Bernie's socialism 🤔

We should invade Vietnam to make it more socialist.

It will be easy to explain to republicans. We can just pull a Marco Rubio. We’ll say that we’re invading Vietnam to make it socialist because thousands of Americans died to prevent Vietnam from being socialist and now those Vietnamese aren’t being socialist enough to be a threat to us which is an insult to all the brave Americans who died fighting real socialist. That’s why we have to preemptively invade Vietnam now and make them more socialist because once they’re socialist they will be a threat to us, so it’s better we carpet bomb Saigon NOW instead of later.

And also Japan was going to attack Vietnam to make Vietnam more socialist again and if we didn’t attack Vietnam first people would be asking us questions about why we knew that and didn’t do anything to protect our assets in the region. Which is why we preemptively bombed Vietnam.

But also we kinda forced the Japanese hand though because we’re really in control.

By that logic Canada is an empire because they’re way more diverse than Japan.

Except Russia is an empire and Japan isn’t. Russia is taking land in Europe through imperialist expansion.

Also since when is oatmeal fucker the defender of the Japanese emperor?

Russia is not an empire, and Japan is. That's why Russia has a president and Japan has an emperor.

The American far left has been anti-American since the 1962 Port Huron Accord, when it abandoned labor in favor of student activism. Look at Chomsky and the other luminaries - invective to praise anything that isn’t American and to criticize everything the U.S. does as a misdeed. It’s not constructive.

Well everything we do is a misdeed but other countries are only worse which is why we should be the ones bombing the poor instead of China even though they don’t seem very interested.

I think you are, calling a non-empire with a president an empire and calling an empire with an emperor not an empire.
