The war is heating up as fast as your grandma’s thermostat. So not very fast.

Changing the regime of a regional power for the cost of 6 lives is impressive.

Hard to run the country when you're dead.

The IRGC was bombed and lost a lot of officers.

One way or another, they are out. We need to wait for the dust to settle to see what replaced it.

No, they’re still in power. Iran has a decentralized authoritarian government. They designed their government to survive assassinations. Most authoritarian governments are centralized but another example is the DRC. It’s authoritarian but constitutionally decentralized.

Islam is different from Christianity in that, in Catholicism for example, the Catholic Church is led by one infallible leader, the pope, but in Islam, there is no one leader. There are actually multiple ayatollahs in Shia Islam and they’re ranked by popularity. And there’s no separation of religion and state, so it’s essentially a decentralized authoritarian theocracy where the clergy are in a hierarchy above the people, and if any individual clergy member gets killed, someone else will take their place.

Of course in Christianity, not everybody liked the one infallible leader thing, but 50% of Christians so 1.4 billion people still are Catholic and still follow the pope. So you can really think of half of Christianity as being an organized group with one individual absolute leader. But Islam is a bit different.

Is that a roundabout way of saying protestantism and the orthodox church are non-christian?

Yeah, I’m Catholic so I believe there is only one true Christian church founded by Jesus Christ. I think other churches are still Christian if they follow Christ, but I feel like all other denominations are less legitimate.

I feel like the US is kind of anti Catholic so people say stuff about the Catholic Church, half the time it’s Protestants, half the time it’s atheists accusing us of things that Protestants do because they think we’re the same for some reason. But I honestly prefer Catholicism as a religion.

But like everybody prefers their own religion. Anyone who’s a good person can go to heaven it doesn’t matter if they’re Catholic or Protestant or Muslim or an atheist though.
