soap is an elongated molecule with one lipophilic end and one hydrophilic end
not the same thing

Soap is a different thing, I let my dishes drip dry because I wash in very hot water (60c+) which strips the plates of grease which can capture the washing up liquid, so it flows off with the water and dries clean. If you wash in colder water and don't rinse them you may find that you have it remaining on the plate though, and I've seen it happen before.

I do. Soak in the bowl, scrub, rinse off with the tap and put on the draining board.

Why not just rinse them for good measure?
