Topic: are large capacity USB flash drives/sticks kind of pointless?

boof started this discussion 3 weeks ago #132,990

The medium has a lower reliability than similarly packaged SSD USB devices, or so I've read. Other than cost concerns, it seems pointless to put thousands of pictures or videos on flash sticks for anything other than a working copy of stuff stored elsewhere.

I use a live USB as my main system across devices, so extra capacity is necessary.

They're still valid. Ssds are small enough to lug around and sturdier.

right, though USB can mean not just the flash sticks, but also hard drives and SSDs connected via USB, and the latter two are reportedly much more reliable for keeping pictures and videos not going glitchy on you as fast
