I don’t like extreme movies but I read a lot about film and transgressive genres. French extreme, grindhouse, fringe art house.
Salo was made by a gay Marxist, murdered before the film’s release. Ostensibly by a male prostitute.
The film depicts a group of fascist elites in 1943 who sexually abuse, torture, and murder a group of young people with impunity within the confines of a remote castle. I recommend against viewing it, especially given a portion where the victims are forcibly fed shit.
It was a surreal and far-fetched metaphor for depravity with impunity, until it wasn’t.(Edited 37 seconds later.)
