countries the world over are dealing with lack of timely (or lack of any) access to care. from what I understand, the important factors are:
more doctors are less willing to work insane hours these days, necessitating there be more doctors to put into the system
specialty doctors are more able to work better hours, and so students are attracted away from general practice for that and other reasons
doctors have a lot of what I could call secretarial work that takes time from actual doctor work
the 1990s had a major austerity trend, in which medical staff were actually let go for cost savings
more patients are really difficult, shall we say, these days
That explains why nobody knows what they are doing. Nothing changes, but taxes get higher. We ought to try something bold, like if we got the people to smoke weed instead of drinking alcohol? Probably would be a huge relief for the hospitals
