Id keep it the same and but remove the familial status from it altogether. I'm a firm believer that people with kids under 18 either need to live amongst other families with similar composition and force them live in houses, not apartments.
Obviously I understand its always about money and nothing short of it. and the U.S by design is corrupted. as long you have enough money you can buy politicians, hire lobbyist to further smoothen the deal and changes are made. Still I just felt it was worth mentioning. this gov has a weird fetish where they want people to have children and naturally because the system rewards single mothers with 1000 kids they get first priority in terms of apartment/condos and homes(via section), snap benefits etc, etc
people blame the absent dead beat father and they're not wrong(but I would argue they have a valid reason however that particular because theres uncomfortable truths) but forget that there are women who actively open their legs to in order produce humans so that they can live off of the government and most of the time they're american citizens.

Is this rage bait or do you actually expect all the millions of families living in New York apartments to move out of the city and buy homes? I know that you’re saying this because you want to push some sort of racist ideology, but forcing people to live in houses instead of apartments is highly unreasonable and honestly if you tried to do that you’d create a disaster.

Because the thing about an apartment, is you can live on top of somebody else, meaning you can fit more people onto less land. And the thing about fitting more people onto less land, is that reduces travel times. Reduced travel times means you don’t need to expend as much energy as a society on transportation. So not only are you increasing the availability of land to use for other things: farming, natural habitats, mining, whatever you want to do with it, you’re also creating a society that has the same productivity while having a smaller energy requirement. Regardless of what you think about climate change (climate change is a real thing), but even if you don’t believe in it, if you don’t need to use as much oil to just get people to and from work, that’s actually good for national security purposes if you think about it.

There’s also a strong correlation between areas that are more urbanized and areas that have higher GDP per capita. One of the reasons why China’s economy grew so quickly was actually because they had policies that forced people to urbanize. Much more economic activity takes place in a city than in the countryside or in the suburbs, and not everybody actually wants to live in a suburban area. Suburban single family homes lead to urban sprawl. It’s a fundamentally wasteful allocation of resources which is economically inefficient.

It’s actually one of the things people get wrong when they compare China to India. People think that China must have a better culture than India since they both have the same population but China looks cleaner or like it’s managed better. But what’s interesting, is if you actually google the population of Chinese cities and compare them to Indian cities, Chinese cities are actually much larger because China’s population is more concentrated in urban areas, which is part of why China developed first, and part of why China is richer, which is part of why China is cleaner. So if you actually wanted to create a society like say China or Japan, you would actually want to force people to live in large cities. In Japan, the reason it’s it’s a mountainous island so the didn’t need any policy to force urbanization into being those were just the natural constraints of their island.

Japan also won’t change up its business culture or induce people who live there to reproduce. Nobody with a brain wants to be a salaryman, sleep six hours a night, not get laid, leave your wife to single parent the kid, and drop dead at your desk.
Japan also has surprisingly poor productivity levels for all the hours spent at work.
