You’d drive for many hours to sit in a room wbeee the adults talked about boring shit. For some reason I had to sit there in rapt attention and say nothing. Don’t go outside, don’t play with kids in the neighborhood, don’t question why you can’t do otherwise.
The one exception was going to church where the minister was a fire and damnation fanatic with a prosperity edge. He later married the 17 year old church secretary he impregnated.
For all the effort these people are all barely remembered apparitions.

I actually used to really enjoy family/family friends gatherings as a kid, I’d love listening to them drink and talk shit as I would try not to sleep and eventually drift into sleep.
I think that might be why I’ve enjoyed listening to podcasts while gaming ever since I was a kid, makes me feel warm in a way but ofcourse really rots my brain into retard mode and eats up huge chunks of time so I don’t do it as much.

Your people sound fun. Mine were odd religious types with no empathy and, as I later learned, various personality disorders and mental illnesses. The couple of them I liked died when I was a teen and the rest were unbearable.
Imagine if the American Gothic people were suburbanites with weird pictures all around of other relatives you never met.
Plus everyone hated each other. The first time my father in law put his hand on my shoulder I jumped up and put my fists up. I thought he was going to hit me walking by. :)
