I think the issue is that with racists part of the motivation is to get a reaction out of people, but it goes both ways. If no matter what I say, he always says the same thing, even if I say nothing, then there’s zero feedback there so it’s like whatever.

Especially the sort of racism. It’s like that weird old fashioned racism from the era when white people who didn’t ever interact with black people would pretend to be black people in order to make black people look bad, because they’d oppressed black people to such an extent that they never heard from black people, so they had no self awareness as to whether their racism was actually effective. So he’s acting like a mentally challenged moron while pretending to be black, except I know that he’s white, so all I see is a white guy being incredibly incredibly stupid. It doesn’t really make me feel angry it’s just an annoyance in the same way bugs are an annoyance. Something to be stepped on and that’s about it.

It just doesn’t really make sense to me. He’s pretending to be a "nigger" or a "monkey." So what does he want me to do? If he’s a white guy and he wants to be a nigger monkey and I’m a black guy, what am I supposed to do except agree with him that he is a nigger monkey? It doesn’t even make sense how I’m supposed to be mad at that, he’s just humiliating himself in front of me over and over again.

In real life, if some white guy came up to me in black face making monkey noises calling himself a nigger, I’d be like, "yes you are a nigger monkey" beat him up and laugh at him.
