If you just want to get to the desktop instantly, use the transparent button on the bottom right-hand corner. That's significantly easier than trying to get Aero Shake to work by spazzing out on the mouse for a few seconds.

I can actually do this significantly faster than I can use Aero Shake. It might just be me, but I can never get the damn thing to work in under two-three seconds; I've used a computer since I was two years old. I can fling the mouse to the bottom right corner, click, then click on what I want again instantly. I can't have a hand-seizure on demand. Or, at least, not the kind of hand-seizure that Windows seems to be looking for.

*shrugs* I'm not trying to imply that your method is invalid; just that I find it very inconvenient to replicate. I don't know a single person that uses Shake, but everyone I know uses Snap on a daily basis. They probably just wanted to replicate the most popular functionality first.

That's not a bad thing. It's not even the most blatant case of that in software; I don't think any software industry can beat the level of pure, shameless, admitted plagiarism involved with developing a browser. I remember when the Opera devs did an AMA on reddit; the very top question asked whether or not they minded Firefox and Chrome copying something Opera pioneered, and they just responded with this laundry list of every single thing they've all stolen from each in recent memory. It's amusing.

What can you do in Gnome 3 that's actually in any way useful that you can't in Unity?
So far the only thing is that I can't move my taskbar but I haven't looked at the settings at all yet
