I’m not an expert on Japanese culture. I know the British like to quit early on so they don’t embarrass themselves by dying slowly. The Russians try to fight against the inevitable, Japan… I’m wondering about Japan. They appear to be letting their economy die slowly by refusing to accept more immigrants while also not having children and also not creating any world changing technology or coming up with radical new ideas. I’m not trying to judge or anything, I’m just wondering.

I know this thread is about Japan, but the way British people will almost succeed at something, quit right before they do, and then complain about it, is very unsatisfying. They almost conquered the entire world, then they gave up. They almost went to space, then they gave up. I’m black, I don’t even like the British empire and I don’t understand this!

I guess Masayoshi Son has been involved with financing American AI companies through SoftBank, so they’re not completely irrelevant in tech, I guess, but still… idk. Impressive actually considering he’s ethnically Korean.

It’s a serious question. How come I don’t use any software or products made by Japanese companies? Everything physical I have is either made by Samsung or Apple. All the software I use is made by Google, Apple, or Microsoft.

I guess Japan is known for cars, but I’ve never been into cars. At least in terms of volume, China outproduces them these days by a lot. From a philosophical perspective I prefer walking. I just see so many fat people in America and our cities are so spread out, on some level it’s a little bit disgusting how needlessly wasteful and inefficient the entire thing is. I definitely prefer European cities.

It might not feel like people in the US are fat, because you’re judging what counts as fat based off of the average person, when I got to Europe for the first time and looked around me, literally the first thing I noticed is nobody’s fat there. That’s a tangent, but whatever.

Although, the east coast isn’t so bad in some of the older American cities where the streets were paved before the car was invented. That’s one thing I do like about Japan though, you’ve gotta give them credit for the trains. You know African countries are building high speed rail? Like what are we doing here?
