The Bible is a lot of hodge podge books and after the fact editing. It lacks the verve of Greek, Norse, West African storytelling. It’s amazing how such a dull book conquered the old pagan religions.

Syncretic religion like Voudoun, Candomble, Santaria, Obeah, and the other African diaspora religions. Ecstasy religions are ancient, and you find European practice in revivals and witch crazes then earlier with Isis and eastern imports into the Roman Empire.
