Topic: Something that's usually overlooked about the gender pay gap.

Anonymous A started this discussion 3 weeks ago #131,997

A lot of guys will correctly point out that the pay gap goes away when you adjust for hours, but they usually don't add in that women control 80% of consumer spending. So men have the 'privelege' of working longer hours, and women have the 'oppression' of spending that money.

What about the race pay gap?

All of this is insignificant compared to the trans pay gap.

Supply and demand curves are genetic?

I remember that from economics class. You know, when they say your accounting profit is your revenue minus your expenses and your economic profit is your revenue minus your expenses and opportunity costs, so in the long run the economic profit of a firm tends towards zero unless you have a magic Jew money gene. Yeah I remember that, totally. That retarded shit is forbidden knowledge.

Unfortunately, I’m not Jewish, I’m Catholic, so instead of controlling the world and the economic with magic money powers, we’re just 6 out of 9 of the Supreme Court justices in a country that’s 20% Catholic because we’re 10x older than the United States. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the presidency this time around, but we have the vice presidency. Weird how nobody has a problem with us controlling the government. Anyway… Jews yeah, those stinkers.

Yes, the ability to supply labor depends on your genetics.

No social change will turn a person with a learning disability into a nuclear engineer, because they are constrained by the genes that determine their cognitive ability.

It's no different than genes determining an athlete's potential. Muscles and the brain are both a result of the particular genetics.

You see, the problem with that is I’m a black guy and I’m studying computer science, and when I’ve taken computer engineering courses, there’s a concept of a universal Turing machine. A machine that can execute a finite set of instructions given infinite memory and infinite time can solve any problem that’s computable.

That seems like it kind of contradicts what you’re saying that you need a particular level of intelligence to complete a certain task, when what I learned in my field is that you can do any form of arithmetic using logic, and you can do all logic using one operation if it’s functionally complete. You could technically build an entire computer capable of doing anything using just NAND.

Black guy on the computer double-posted this 3 weeks ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,410,544

Or you could also use only NOR, but I didn’t want to make it confusing. NOR is also functionally complete.

Yet people don't use slow turning machines when fast ones are available.

Put enough disabled people in a building, organize and specialize the labor, and you could get them to do more complicated cognitive work but it would be much less efficient than hiring people who are actually smart.

Except, we actually do. Modern CPUs have multiple cores, slow cores for power efficiency and fast cores for high performance tasks. Most of the time if you’re using your laptop to browse the internet or do word processing or whatever, you’re actually using the slow cores.

You can’t think of a company that hires lots of people getting paid minimum wage to build technology? Really? You can’t think of one? Foxconn? Do you think MIT graduates actually assemble iPhones?

Anonymous A (OP) replied with this 3 weeks ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,410,554

@previous (Black guy on the computer)

Foxconn doesn't design the semiconductors for the most part, that's done by top grads in the west.

There are engineers that work there, but they are college grads with a lot of skills.

The assembly workers are not designing anything, they are following simple procedures.

@previous (Black guy on a computer)
That's not how disparite impact determines if it's racist.

Disparite impact says that the outcome, regardless of how it happened, determines if it's racist. So a majority black team must be racist by that logic.

Black guy on a computer replied with this 3 weeks ago, 1 minute later, 7 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,410,598

All black people made it into the NBA because all black people are genetically gifted. It is racist that you are not overcoming your genetic inferiority through Protestant work ethic. When God made the Earth, did God say, "Oh, none of my ancestors ever created a planet so I guess it’s not in my DNA and I shouldn’t try." No, God hit the gym.

OK, great.

Back on topic. Disparite impact theory says it's racist if one race predominates, and the theory doesn't care about hard work.

So if you say it's OK for one race to predominate, because they worked hard, that means you disagree with disparite impact theory.
