In 2026 Germany, Brazil, Italy and China set their AOC at 14 with no restriction on partner age - so 40 and 14 is legal.
The woke mob is now saying that women under 25 are children who can't consent. The same also say that children starting puberty are mature enough to take hormone blockers that permanently stunt their development.
It's all relative. You can say this is immoral, but NYC has a Muslim mayor, and every major city in England has a Muslim mayor.
What's unspeakable in one place and time becomes normal and celebrated in another.

14 is too young.
As for the Woke idiots, they’re unironically embracing stupid. They use a misinterpretation of science that the brain isn’t developed until 25. As usual, they’re wrong and seem to want a return to the Victorian Era.

That’s not a misinterpretation of science, that’s just true. The reason 18 is the age of adulthood is because that’s when people graduate high school, which is the earliest the government could justify drafting people.

I agree 14 is too young. That said, people act like it's universally awknowledged, and large parts of the developed world have made it legal.
You and I agree, but it's far from a consensus even among the developed world.
18 is good, and it's also puritan compared to all of human history and in the current world.
It's not as if the world had it set higher, and it was lowered for the draft. Before the draft, it was lower.

When will people realize that just because someone has more money, that doesn’t mean they’re smart and it doesn’t mean they have good ideas and it doesn’t mean they’re worth listening to? It also doesn’t mean a country has a better culture, just look at a map of age of consent by country, African countries have figured out that having sex with teenagers is bad. Europeans, not so much!

The fact that European countries are developed is the dumbest justification ever. That would be like saying, "Well, Epstein trafficked 1,000 women and children, but he was a billionaire so something must be working out, maybe he just has a different idea about things." That’s not how morality works!

People have this idea the poor people being exploited by the rich people are the bad immoral ones and the rich people benefiting from the exploitation are the good ones, but that doesn’t make any sense. Rich people aren’t more moral, they just have more resources to hide what they’re doing, but they also have more resources to do much worse things.

Sexual assault is higher, freedom of orientation is much less common, and women's rights are curtailed in those African countries.
Plus many only state on paper that it's 18, and turn a blind eye when those laws are broken.

I gave the example of the first world to point out that this isn't something constrained to failed states, since some people believe that.
Most of the world does not require the younger party be 18, that's my point.
18 as a standard is relatively strict. Which is good.

I’m also tired of this lazy narrative that poor country have the worst human rights. The largest war in the entire world is happening in Europe right now. There was one news story a while ago about a female Ukrainian journalist who was kidnapped by Russian authorities and her body was found in a dumpster with burn marks on her feet, her brain and eyes removed, and she was in a body bag labeled "unidentified male."

Just because Europeans have money doesn’t mean they have some great respect for human rights or human life or dignity that all the Africans lack. The worst crimes in all of history mostly happened in Europe.
